Grimsby Aquatics Swim Team were delighted when two of their young swimmers were selected for the Yorkshire Swimming Association County Pathway Programme, following their performance at this year’s Yorkshire County Competition.
Libby Munday (10) and Sarah Hedges (11) were selected for the first day of the County Pathway Programme held at Queen Ethelberga’s School near York. The girls joined 22 boys and girls selected for this year’s programme.
Day one was held on Sunday 9 April and saw a focus on front and back crawl technique led by the programme’s Head Coach, Craig Robinson and supported by four dedicated skills coaches including GAST Coach, Callum Gladding. The day included land training, presentations about stroke skills and pool work.
The County coaching team will see the swimmers again in July for another day focussing on breaststroke and butterfly technique, progress will be tracked and followed up at the final day to be held in October. This is the first County Camp organised for 11 year olds and is designed to support these promising young swimmers in their early stages of development and ensure they have a solid foundation of swimming technique across all four strokes to build on.
